More than 150,000 cases pending in Bhopal District Court: 18,000 cases stuck due to government witnesses not appearing.

Dates have been given more than 150 times, and despite repeated summons and warrants being issued, officials are not appearing in court. This poses a challenge to the prosecution. In some cases, over 1.5 lakh cases are pending in the Bhopal District Court for up to 32 years. As many as 20,302 cases are stuck due to the non-appearance of witnesses. Of these, government witnesses (police officers, doctors, forensic experts) are not appearing in about 90% of the cases, which is approximately 18,000 cases. This has been happening since 1994.
