Midday meals in schools and anganwadis have been suspended for a week: Women say inflation has increased by 2 times, but payments are still being made at the same 8-year-old rates, leading to hunger strikes.

In the Narmadapuram district, children in government primary and secondary schools as well as anganwadis have not been receiving their midday meals (MDM) for a week. This is due to the women from self-help groups that prepare MDM in the district going on strike since September 15th. The strike was called by the Provincial Women and Self-Help Group Federation, demanding an increase in honorarium for cooks, higher food prices, and the provision of 200-300 grams of food grains.
