In Bhopal, women from the Bhojpuri community are observing a three-day Jitiya (Jivitputrika) fast to wish for the happiness and prosperity of their children, healthy lives, and long life. The fast began with Nahay-Khay (washing hands and eating). After consuming curd and flattened rice around 3 am on Saturday, women are fasting for 24 hours without water. At 5 pm, a puja will be held at Shitaldas's Bagia, Kamala Park Ghat, in honor of Raja Jimutvahana. The fast, which began with Nahay-Khay, is a symbol of Bhojpuri unity.
