The case of 24 EVMs being stolen in Anuppur turned out to be false: the machines were sent to Bhopal in 2021; the teacher in charge of the strong room was suspended for negligence in the records.

A case of theft of 24 EVMs (8 ballot units and 16 control units) has come to light while demolishing the old tehsil office building at the Anuppur district headquarters. In this case, EVM strong room in-charge and assistant teacher Phool Singh Shyam was immediately suspended on Saturday. The Collector and District Election Officer, Anuppur, issued the suspension order. It stated that the correct condition of the EVMs was not cleaned in time and records were not maintained properly.
