The High Court had stated that teachers' positions should be filled within 5 years, but even after 8 years, 1.15 lakh posts remain vacant. Now, the 30-year-old "Gen-Z" is on the streets.
Eight years ago, the High Court issued an order setting a five-year deadline for filling vacant teacher positions in government schools. The court's stance was clear: employing guest teachers on such a large scale cannot be a permanent arrangement; therefore, fill the positions properly. However, even after eight years, the picture of schools in the state has not changed. Even today, approximately 70,000 guest teachers are deployed. Due to the lack of permanent recruitment, waiting candidates and guest teachers continue to remain.
