The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken a strict stance on the issue of cutting down around 700 trees during the construction of the international cricket stadium in Nathu Barkheda, Nilbad, Bhopal. It has ordered that 10 times more plants (7000) be planted for every one tree to be cut, until September 30th, which is 15 days from now. The forest department will monitor the survival of the trees and submit an action report along with a GPS photo. The NGT has also directed that road construction and development works should be carried out in accordance with environmental regulations.
