BSNL officials bargained for bribes: demanded ₹4 lakh, but CBI caught both of them after taking the first installment of ₹75,000 each.

The CBI has trapped and arrested two Class-1 officers in Bhopal for making a deal to pay off pending bills of BSNL. The allegation is that Avinash Shukla, Chief Engineer (Electrical) posted in Bhopal, and BB Chakrapani, Superintending Engineer (Electrical), demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh each in exchange for clearing the pending bills of a firm based in Jabalpur. Both officers had received the first installment of Rs 75,000 each.
