Uttarakhand: Instead of having trees cut down by laborers, preparations are underway to have them cut down through a contracting system. Officials are not in agreement with the Forest Department's plan to have trees cut down by forest department workers instead of using a contracting system. The General Manager of Kumaon has sent a letter to the Managing Director of the Forest Department regarding this, mentioning the practical problems that may arise from the new system. The Forest Department is planning to rotate the work on a rotational basis.
