On Sri Krishna Janmashtami today, Ujjain will be completely immersed in the devotion of Lord Krishna. Special preparations have been completed at the city's major Krishna temples: Sandipani Ashram, Gopal Mandir, and ISKCON Temple. The temples are decorated with electric lights and flowers. Religious events, special prayers, and prasad distribution will take place throughout the day. At 12 midnight, aarti (a ritual of worship) will be performed at all three major temples to commemorate Lord Krishna's birth. Devotees from across the country will attend the celebrations.
