In Madhya Pradesh, on one hand, there are grand claims of innovations being made, but on the other hand, due to school mergers and the decision to temporarily close schools with low enrollment rates, the education of millions of children has been jeopardized. The situation is such that last year, 15.25 lakh students were absent from schools in the state, and this year, another 11.12 lakh children have been pushed into 'drop boxes'. Drop boxes refer to children who have dropped out of their previous school for some reason.
