First two years saw rapid improvement, now the pace has slowed down: PM-10 decreased by 26 percent in 3 years, yet it is still 35 percent above the standard.
Although Indore ranked second in the country in the Clean Air Survey, the air quality here has improved significantly over the past three years. In 2022-23, the particulate matter (PM-10) level in the atmosphere had reached 109 micrograms per cubic meter, which has now decreased to 81. This represents a reduction of 25.7 percent, but it is still below the Central Pollution Control Board's annual standard of 60 micrograms per cubic meter by 21 micrograms (approximately 35 ppm).
