The person who was sent to jail for drug smuggling turned out to be a minor: the case reached the Juvenile Justice Board; the minor, who had been in jail for 2 years, was granted bail by the High Court.
A 16-year-old boy, who had been imprisoned for nearly two years in connection with a 138 kg cannabis smuggling case, has been granted bail by the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Justice Alok Awasthi's bench stated that no substantial evidence was presented to support the grounds cited in the law for denying the boy bail. The High Court set aside the Juvenile Justice Board's and the appellate court's order rejecting the bail, thereby reinstating the boy's criminal proceedings.
