Bhopal is preparing with GIS in mind: Bhopal will also become a cleanliness model among the country's 50 cities, and waste and water management will be improved.

Bhopal has been selected for the central government's 'Pragati-50' initiative to model cleanliness and sanitation in 50 cities across the country. Indore and Ujjain from Madhya Pradesh are also included in this list. With the proposed Global Investors Summit (GIS) scheduled for 2027 in Bhopal, the focus will be on improving the city's sanitation system. The selection of the city was based on criteria such as existing waste management, population, geographical location, and garbage-free city star rating.
