International Day of Older Persons today: Every 7th voter in Indore is over 60 years old, with 366,000 senior citizens; however, elderly people lack facilities.
Indore is no longer just a city for the young, as it now offers not only seats on buses but also space on footpaths for the elderly. An analysis of 25.02 lakh voters across the district's nine assembly constituencies revealed that 365,895 voters are aged 60 or above, accounting for 14.62% of the total electorate. This means that every seventh voter is a senior citizen, with 758,068 voters in this age group, representing 30.30%. This segment is expected to grow significantly over the next decade or two, contributing to the overall population aged 60 and above.
