Adulteration in ghee...: 28 out of 96 samples failed, up to 10 times lead found.

The Food Safety Department has found lead, a substance harmful to health, along with adulteration in packaged ghee being sold in the Indore area of India. 28 samples of ghee tested between July and September have failed. Among these, 24 were found to be unsafe and 4 sub-standard. Lead was tested in 16 of the unsafe samples, and lead was found in 10 of them. The amount of lead in these samples ranged from 0.1 to 0.21 mg/kg, while the acceptable limit is 0.02 mg/kg. This means that some samples contained lead.
