The ongoing agitation by the Indore Municipal Corporation's sanitation workers, demanding regularisation and other demands, intensified further on Friday. Santosh Kalyane, the national president of the Valmiki Samaj, shaved his head in protest at the Gandhi statue complex and offered a pindadaan to Pratap Karosiya, who holds the status of a state minister. The sanitation workers' organization has been demanding permanent appointments, equal pay for equal work, an end to the contract system, risk allowance, and better medical facilities for a long time.
