The water at Ujjain's Siddhavad Ghat is not even fit for bathing: Pollution Board report reveals devotees from all over the country visit during the Shradh Paksha.
The water isn't even fit for bathing, but it's a matter of faith, so one has to take a dip. Kamal Yadav, who had come from Dewas to offer tarpan to his ancestors at Siddhavat Ghat, said as he emerged from the Shipra River, "Such dirty water in such a sacred place, what will happen to the common people?" He is also concerned about the thousands of devotees who come here from all over the country during the Shradh Paksha. The August report by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPCB) also criticizes the water quality of the Shipra River.
