Kanpur: First, a young man was beaten with belts, then robbers fled after looting his bag and mobile phone. A fatal attack also occurred at a Ganesh pandal during protests.

Asif Ali, a resident of Chandranagar in Chakeri, Kanpur, was on his way for a morning walk on Wednesday morning. Five youths surrounded him at Lal Bangla, some distance from his house. They verbally abused him and beat him with belts. They snatched his bag and mobile phone and fled.
