Punjab faces power crisis, 6 units of thermal plants shut down: Demand exceeds 15,500 MW, Powercom is buying expensive electricity; cuts are taking place for 4-5 hours.

The power crisis in Punjab is intensifying. The demand for electricity has been consistently above 15,500 megawatts for the past few days, resulting in a significant shortfall in production. Due to this situation, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is forced to purchase expensive electricity from the central pool to meet its power supply needs. Six units of government thermal plants in Punjab have completely stopped generating electricity. In two of the remaining four units, the capacity has also decreased significantly.
