The dispute that started in Machhiwara, Ludhiana, over planting saplings on government and panchayat land has turned into a bloody clash. Four people beat up Sarpanch Jasveer Singh. When the sarpanch's friend, Gurdhyan Singh, arrived to rescue him, the accused attacked him with sticks and sharp weapons as well. The attack resulted in six serious injuries on the sarpanch's body, while Gurdyan Singh sustained eight injuries. Gurdyan Singh was also attacked with a sharp weapon at two places.
