The truck was coming from Garhshankar to Ludhiana and had to unload its paper cargo in the city itself. Information has emerged that the truck driver is originally from Salem. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred between 6:15 am and 6:30 am. The truck, fully loaded with newspapers, was coming from Ghantaghar towards Lakad Bazaar when it ran over them.
