In Machhiwara, Ludhiana, a dispute over planting saplings on government and panchayat land escalated into a horrific fight. Four people brutally assaulted Sarpanch Jasveer Singh. When the sarpanch's friend, Gurdhyan Singh, came to his rescue, the accused attacked him with sticks and sharp weapons as well. The attack resulted in six serious injuries on the sarpanch's body, while Gurdyan Singh sustained eight injuries. Gurdyan was also attacked with sharp weapons at two locations.
