In Maharashtra, those who don't know Marathi won't be able to drive auto-taxis: Transport Minister said - first they will give a notice, if they don't learn in 3 months, the license will be cancelled.
Drivers who do not know the Marathi language will no longer be able to drive auto-taxis in Maharashtra. A campaign against auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers who lack a 'working knowledge' of Marathi, meaning they have only a basic understanding of the language, will begin in the state on August 20th. This campaign will run for one month across the entire state. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced this on Wednesday. He stated that drivers would first be given notice and then terminated within three months.
