Today, Mathura-Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh is celebrating the grand festival of Krishna Janmashtami. On the occasion of Lord Krishna's 5253rd birth anniversary, devotees have gathered in long queues at his birthplace and the Shri Banke Bihari Temple. A gem-studded yellow attire has been brought to adorn Kanha. In the early morning Mangal Aarti held at the Banke Bihari Temple, 10,000 devotees participated. Women danced to the rhythm of drums, cymbals, and conch shells. According to the administration, 50 people from across the country and abroad have attended the birth anniversary celebrations.
