The transport department had already issued 36 challans against the double-decker bus that caught fire on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on Tuesday evening. Despite this, the bus was running on the road with 32 passengers from Delhi to Muzaffarpur. The driver stopped the bus near Sector-148 after smoke and a foul smell started emanating from the engine. All the passengers were evacuated in about 5 to 7 minutes, averting a major accident. The bus, numbered BR-28-P-3433, was challaned by the transport department.
