In Pilibhit, the police have cracked down on an interstate cyber gang that was defrauding people of lakhs of rupees by intimidating them with digital arrests. The cybercrime police have registered a case against six accused, including the gang's mastermind, under Section 3(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Gangster and Anti-Social Activities Act, 1986. The accused impersonated officials from the CBI, ED, CBCID, and Mumbai Crime Branch to intimidate people with the threat of legal action.
