Jhandu Kumar (formerly Avinash Kumar), the para powerlifter who rose to international fame by waving India's flag from Nalanda's Harnaut town, chose a different path. The boy whose childhood was spent in a 10×5 square feet damp rented room, with a torn ceiling and sleeping on a mat on the floor, selling potatoes, onions, and bhunja (a type of lentil soup) to feed his family, and driving an e-rickshaw (totu), is now being celebrated by the entire country.
