2.3 million people in 12 districts affected by floods: Special monitoring in low-lying areas connected to rivers.

In Bihar, the flood situation has become severe due to the overflowing of the Ganges, Kosi, Gandak, Burhi Gandak, Punpun, and Bagmati rivers. The flood has affected a population of 22.42 lakh in 368 panchayats across 70 blocks in 12 districts of the state. At Gandhi Ghat in Patna, the water level in the Ganges has reached a record 50.57 meters, breaking the previous record of 50.52 meters from 2016. This has caused water to enter several neighborhoods in Patna City. Many villages in Punpun areas are also affected by the flood.
