In Raghopur, Bhagalpur, the Ganges has wreaked havoc due to erosion. The strong current of the Ganges has washed away more than 125 meters of the embankment. Over six concrete houses and several hut-like dwellings have been submerged in the Ganges. Many more houses are also at risk. People are leaving their homes and moving to safer locations. Despite the decline in the water level of the Ganges, the erosion occurred rapidly, leaving people with no time to prepare. Despite spending crores of rupees, the embankment has been so weak that it has failed to protect the people.
