Between Ganga and Gandak, 15,000 people are living on rooftops. They are surviving by eating leftover food; even helpers aren't coming forward. People are saying they are drinking filtered floodwater.

We have been on the roof for 15 days. There is no means of livelihood. Water is everywhere, and our house is filled with water. We are somehow managing to survive by putting up a tent made of tarpaulin on the roof. This roof is our bed, kitchen, and shelter. When the children fall ill, the trouble increases. We take them to the doctor by boat. It becomes difficult to live on the roof when it rains. Despite having our own house, we have become homeless.'
