From March 2028, there will be no electricity wires visible: The city's power lines will become underground at a cost of ₹515 crore.
To free Patna from the web of wires and prevent breakdowns during thunderstorms, work has been expedited on a plan to underground 774 km of power lines. This project is being carried out in two phases at a cost of approximately 515 crores across nine major divisions of the city. As part of this effort, preparations are now underway to free Bailey Road, the lifeline of the capital, from poles and wires. The 70 distribution lines along the road from Dak Bungalow to Rupspur will also be undergrounded.
