Obstacles persist, extension extended until 2028: Digha-Sonpur 6-lane bridge: Only 17 percent construction, then time extended again.
The construction work of the Digha-Sonpur 6-lane bridge, which is being built parallel to the JP Digha Bridge on the Ganges River, is progressing at a very slow pace. The project, which started in August 2024, was supposed to be completed by November 2027. However, even after three years, only 17.24% of the work has been completed so far. The most significant aspect of this project is that there are no land acquisition issues involved. Both sides of the bridge already have approach roads.
