Operations have begun on the modern rail bridge built over the Ganges River: a double-track bridge in Simaria built at a cost of 2400 crores; the Kosi Express is the first to pass through.

The much-awaited new double-track rail bridge between Simaria in Begusarai and Mokama in Patna is now fully operational. The Railway Safety Commissioner of the Eastern Circle, Kolkata, Guru Prakash, conducted the final inspection on Sunday, after which operations commenced on Monday. The first train to utilize the new bridge was the 18625 Purnia-Hatia Koshi Express, which reached Hatidah station in 13 minutes from Rajendra Bridge station. The bridge is expected to be fully operational soon.
