NHRC's grand hearing in Gyan Bhavan: Compensation of 30-30 lakh on deaths in septic tanks, 25 cases closed.

The landmark verdict came on the first day of the hearing at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Gyan Bhavan, where 25 out of 30 cases were settled on the spot. A bench of the commission, headed by Chairman Justice V. Ramasubramanian, members Justice Dr. Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Vijaya Bharti Sayani, ordered compensation of 30 lakhs each (total 60 lakhs) to the families of the two laborers who died in a septic tank cleaning incident in Sitamarhi in 2022. The complaint was filed by Amir Subhani.
