Smugglers transporting narcotics from the Northeast to Bihar have changed their route to evade increasing police surveillance. Instead of bringing the consignment directly to Bihar via rail or major roads, they are now using Uttar Pradesh as a transit point to reach Patna. This was revealed during vehicle checks near JP Setu TOP. Police recovered 274 grams of heroin-like narcotics from an Ertiga with a UP number and arrested four accused.
