An investigation of 48,000 samples from 5 medical colleges revealed that the ability of antibiotics to kill bacteria has decreased due to widespread consumption.
An examination of samples from over 48,000 patients at five major government hospitals in the state during a three-year period (2022 to 2024) revealed that the effectiveness of antibiotics against key infection-causing bacteria is rapidly declining. In particular, the efficacy of several drugs against E. coli, Clostridium, and S. aureus was found to be significantly lower than the standard level. Shockingly, the effect of a single drug also varied across different medical colleges.
