Nalanda - The Patna High Court has quashed the Mukhiya's district ban order. A fine of ₹60,000 was imposed on the government. The bench stated that the District Magistrate (DM) did not exercise discretion.

The Patna High Court has declared the order passed by Thanabadar against Chandan Kumar, the head of Chorsua Panchayat in Giriyak block of Nalanda, as illegal and dismissed it. The division bench comprising Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad and Justice Sunil Datta Mishra delivered this verdict. The court directly considered the decision of District Badar as a violation of fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution and ordered the state government to pay compensation of Rs 5,000 to the petitioner headman.
