Mukesh Kumar, a 28-year-old man, died after drowning in a canal in Khas Khori village, under the Vishunaganj police station area of Jehanabad. Following the incident, his family members alleged that it was a murder and accused them of killing Mukesh due to property disputes. The family claims that Mukesh was thrown into the water after being fed poisonous substances. According to the family, Mukesh had come to the village to attend a funeral ceremony. It is reported that Mukesh's family resides in Delhi and works for a private company.
