Clicked wedding invite, lost Rs2.75 lakh: Pune retired auditor falls prey to APK fraud

Elderly Pune resident lost over two lakh rupees to online fraudsters. Crooks sent a wedding invitation which contained a malicious .apk file. This file allowed remote access and theft of banking credentials. Similar incidents involved shopkeepers losing significant amounts to these scams. Authorities warn citizens against downloading unknown .apk files from messages.
