A herd of 22 wild elephants, which had been driven away from Koyasara village in Lapung, about 45 kilometers from Ranchi, reached Dolach on Tuesday night. The forest department team drove the herd away from the residential area, but it moved towards Nehalu late at night. The herd also includes four or five young calves. To protect them, the adult elephants have surrounded the calves, keeping them in the middle. The calves have slowed down the herd's pace. The villagers are in a state of panic as the herd approaches their villages.
