In the Diwali-Chhath season, not only are train seats from outside Jharkhand filled up, but airfare has also skyrocketed. This year, Diwali is on November 8th, and Chhath is on November 13-16th. To come to Dhanbad by air, one needs to catch flights to Ranchi, Durgapur, and Deoghar. On November 6th, the airfare for these three destinations, including Delhi, has almost doubled. Meanwhile, the fare from Mumbai and Bengaluru to Ranchi, Durgapur, and Deoghar is approximately triple.
