In the Tatisaria block of Hazaribag, a tradition has been ongoing for nearly three decades to tie protective threads around the trees in the Dudhmutia forest and pledge to protect them. Every year on October 7th, villagers gather in the Dudhmutia forest to save the trees by tying thin strips of cloth around them and reiterating their commitment to protecting them. The collective conservation initiative started from Dudhmutia has become a successful campaign for saving forests through community efforts.
