Father sentenced to life imprisonment in an honor killing case: In Sonipat, a man had a love marriage with his father's friend. He was called on the pretext of his birthday and strangled him with a chunni (a traditional scarf).

In Mukinpur village of Sonipat district, a father, upset with his daughter's love marriage, murdered her and threw the body in Gangnahar. In this case, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr. Jasbir Singh convicted the accused father and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Meanwhile, the second accused was acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence. The court sentenced father Vijaypal to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh for murder, kidnapping for murder.
