Farmers are troubled due to the government's failure to procure paddy and millet: crops lying in the open in Rohtak grain market, increased moisture due to the rains.
Farmers in Rohtak's grain market appear distressed due to the lack of government procurement of paddy and bajra. For the past 15 days, farmers have been sitting with their bundles, but their crops are not being purchased. Compelled, some farmers have been forced to sell their crops to middlemen at throwaway prices. Balakram Sahrawat, a farmer who arrived at the grain market, stated that government procurement of paddy is not taking place and that efforts are being made to harass the landowners. The middlemen are also trying to exploit the moisture in the crops.
