Retired DGP R Sreelekha resigns as Thiruvananthapuram councillor; BJP loses majority in corporation

Retired DGP R Sreelekha has resigned from her position as a Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor. She cited personal inconveniences in her resignation letter submitted on September 30. Sreelekha had previously contested for the Mayor position after being projected as a candidate during local body elections. The resignation reduces the ruling BJP's strength from 51 to 50 in the Corporation.
