However, with the onset of Ganesh Utsav, the city resonates with the chants of Lord Ganesha's son, Prathamesh. In Varanasi, several committees will install the idol of Ganpati on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Among these, not only in Kashi but also outside Maharashtra, the installation of the idol by the country's oldest Kashi Ganesh Utsav Committee is a notable event. The foundation of this Ganesh Utsav was laid in Kashi in 1897 by Veer Shivaji.
