In Jaunpur, two individuals have been severely accused of illegally detaining people by posing as Crime Branch officers, assaulting them at the police station, and having approximately ₹212,000 transferred from their accounts. An investigation was launched after the matter came to light. Following the confirmation of the complaints in the investigation, separate cases have been registered at Jalalpur and Sureri police stations. The inspector in charge of Sureri Police Station, Divya Prakash Singh, has been suspended.
