In Varanasi, villagers created an uproar and engaged in physical violence at the power plant over a dispute that led to the shutdown of another feeder. They were protesting against the power cut.

In the Pindara tehsil area of Varanasi, a commotion erupted at the Gajokhar power sub-station on Sunday night over a power outage. Disgruntled villagers from several villages connected to the Hiramnagar feeder, who had been without electricity for three days, reached the sub-station around 8 pm. The villagers demanded that until their feeder's power was restored, the supply to other feeders should also be cut off. When officials failed to arrive at the scene, the villagers turned to other feeders as well.
