Varanasi has been ranked 34th in the Clean Air Survey-2026. In the Central Pollution Control Board's ranking, Varanasi secured 34th position among 48 cities, scoring just 150 points this time. Last year, Varanasi was ranked 11th, indicating a decline of 23 ranks in one year. In 2023, Varanasi stood third and in 2024, it ranked ninth. Considering this, the 2026 ranking is its worst performance to date.
