The 483-year-old Ramlila in Varanasi has begun: The foundation was laid in 1543 by Megha Bhagat, a contemporary of Tulsidas, and it started with the coronation ceremony.

The 483-year-old Shri Adi Ramleela Laat Bhairav, Varuna-Sangam, began on Sunday night in Varanasi, India. The Mukut Pujan was performed at the Ramleela office in Vishweshwarganj, accompanied by Vedic chants. During this event, the characters who would portray the Lord were honored with tilak and garlands. The Ramayana troupe recited the couplets of the Bala Kanda. This Ramleela will last for 22 days, during which different episodes from the Ramayana will be performed.
